Winter Skincare Routine at Home :

Winter skincare routine can help prepare your skin for dryness caused by cold temperatures, harsh winds, and indoor heat.Skin care should be done always and in every season, but in winters, more skin related problems arise due to which the skin needs extra care in winters.

But before taking care of the skin, it is important to know what the skin is like. There are 4 types of skin – oily, dry, mixed and normal. Different types of skin care require different types of remedies.

Patients like diabetic, thyroid, hypertension and allergy should take special care of their skin in winter season. For this, half an hour before bathing, the skin should be massaged with coconut oil, olive oil, or fresh butter. And soap containing glycerin should be used while bathing.

A golden rule of skin care that absolutely cannot be compromised on during winters. Cleaning the face is very important in winter because due to low temperature and cold air in winter, the skin becomes dry and flaky. Some people do not clean their face and body properly due to extreme cold, which is very wrong, due to this the skin becomes doll dry and lifeless. Therefore, skin should be taken good care of especially during winter season. Skipping your daily cleanse is a big No – no as it can clog your pores & lead to other skin woes, making your skin feel overly dry .

• Bathing with soap can make the skin dry.

As the weather changes, problems like cold, cough, sore throat become common, so drink lukewarm water to stay away from them. Drinking lemon mixed with lukewarm water strengthens the immune system. Starting the day with lukewarm water instead of tea also helps in getting rid of the problems of gas and acidity.

Glycerine is used to keep the skin from becoming dry in winter and to give it moisture. Glycerine is a natural moisturizer.

In winter, skin loses moisture due to dry winds, in such a situation glycerin hydrates the skin. Glycerine also helps in protecting the outer layer of the skin.

 

Some more benefits of glycerin in winter:

 

•Itching, dryness and roughness on the skin goes away.

• Helps in hydrating the skin.

• Provides relief from many skin problems.

• Reduces the symptoms of aging.

 

Glycerine can also be applied by mixing it with: honey, aloe vera, rose water, sugar.

In winter the skin needs to be moisturized and kept hydrated. These are the benefits of applying moisturizer in winter:

• Fights dryness.

• Gives moisture to the skin.

• Makes skin smooth and glowing.

• Dry winds blowing in winter suck the moisture from the skin. Due to this the skin gradually becomes dry and dull.

• Applying moisturizer in winter provides adequate moisture to the skin. This keeps the skin hydrated.

 

Keep these things in mind when applying moisturizer in winter:

•In winter, you may have to use some other moisturizer instead of your regular moisturizer.

• It is not necessary that the same moisturizer suits everyone.

• You should also use moisturizer according to your skin type.

• Petroleum or cream-based moisturizers are better than lotions for normal to dry skin.

• If you have sensitive skin, use unscented or lanolin.
